Bibliographical Reference: In Hill, P. (1972) ‘Batagarawa’, in Rural Hausa: A Village and a Setting. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, pp. 24, Hill writes that zaure (entrance huts) were the only part of the house that most men had to themselves in Batagarawa, they were usually little more than a little roofed passageway. During Hill's fieldwork, many young men and schoolboys had nowhere to sleep at night (unless their relatives provided somewhere) so would use zaure or sleep under trees. [LB 30/07/2024]
