Description

A close up of the masquerade character called Oki in the Ogbukere Play. The Oki mask is placed on top of the wearer’s head and consists of a large horizontal wooden structure with coloured fringe around the base of the mask and in the centre of the mask are carved, painted designs and three large pointed fins. The masquerader is wearing different pieces of coloured cloth with abdomen long strands of palm fronds around the neck. In the background are attendants who are wearing printed wrappers around the waist and some are holding metal staffs and sticks. [PB 28/11/23]
