Description

An Ugbom headdress depicting a seated female figure. The figure is carved of wood and sitting on a wooden stool. The face of the figure is angular and consists of a small protuberance at the top of the head, a rounded head but with sharp angles. The figure has a high forehead with keloid markings in the centre and at the sides of the temples; slit eyes, nose and rounded, protruding mouth. The upper torso consists of a thick neck, pointed breasts, arms at either side of the torso; the lower half of the seated figure shows knees bent and stylised markings at the feet.
