Description

A documentation photograph of an Ugbom headdress depicting a seated female figure. The figure is carved of wood; the top of the head depicts a square shaped coiffure, the face is naturalistic and shows a high forehead, nose, mouth and ears. There are three round keloid markings next to the ear. The neck is thick and the breasts are rounded, protruding umbilicus, arms are stretched outwards to the side and the fingers are incised. The figure is sitting on rectangular stool and the base of the carving narrows and tapers into a cylindrical bottom; holes for attaching the base are present.
