Description

A street market at the side of a river. Vendors are sitting selling dried fish and other produce laid out on mats on the ground. On the left of the image a man and a woman are looking at produce being sold by a man sitting on a box. The box has a printed label 'Magnet Carbolic Soap'. He is wearing a loose shirt, shorts and a floppy hat. To the right a man and a boy are sitting by their mats. In the background two vendors are sitting behind mats on which dried flat tobacco leaves are stacked. There is a large old barrel on its side at the water's edge. On the river behind two long canoes are floating, containing bundles and boxes. [PB 15/09/2023]
