Description
Obugulu Mau (Ghost) masquerade.
A portrait in side profile of Nwabogho Ehi, (Heifer), wearing a helmet mask (painted white and with v-shaped markings above and below the eyes)dressed in a brightly coloured harlequin-like/appliqué costume. Cloth cloak tied around the neck, over ?woven or ?net cloth which is attached to the mask, wrappers around the waist and ankle-rattles, made of ?seeds.
The masquerader is leaning on a long stick held in his right hand. In his left a chicken is hanging down.
Spectators, mud and thatch houses and trees and vegetation are in the background. [PB 15/09/2023]
