Description

Obugulu Mau masqueraders in performance. The masquerader in front is wearing an elaborate headdress consisting of colourful felt, string and tassels. The three masqueraders behind him are wearing headdresses with elaborate painted wooden crests. Behind them is a dancer wearing a waist cloth with tassels and bands below the knee. The masks are painted white with black markings around the eyes, nose, mouth and accentuating the eyebrows and cheeks and attached to a harlequin-like costume. In the background are spectators and trees. [PB 25/08/2023]
