Description
The interior of an Obu House showing a male elder sitting on a bench and with four Obu house carvings behind him. The man is dressed in a jacket, shirt, plaid wrapper and has a cloth thrown over his shoulder. He is wearing bracelets around his wrists. The four figures in the background are very stylised, with elongated upper torso, and painted in dark and light colours. The figure on the left is standing upright and wearing a tall coiffure; the second figure is standing and holding a staff in the centre and wearing a hat; the third figure is female and is holding a pot on top of her head; the fourth is male and is holding a machete in one hand and a head in the other. Behind the carvings, is a bamboo panel with raffia, possibly a shrine? [Description from record P.71858.GIJ, PB 28/07/2023]
