Description
View of a stationary railway carriage. In the foreground there is a woman standing with her back to the camera. She is carrying an infant on her back in a carry cloth tied around her waist. She is wearing a printed cloth over head and shoulders with a geometric design, a striped long-sleeved shirt under a wrapper around her torso. The infant is looking to the left and is wearing a short-sleeved striped of the same material as the woman. The infant's hair is shaved on the sides to create a crest of hair along the centre of its head. It is wearing a large stud earring in its left ear.
Passengers can be seen in the open windows of the carriage. In the foreground a man is looking back at the camera, while another man reaches out of the window and is pointing to something on the ground. He is wearing Hausa headdress and robes.
On the bottom edge of the carriage the letter 'V' is painted with 'Tare 33-0-3' written alongside. [PB 09/02/2023]
