Publication: Image published in Armstrong, A. Leslie. "Rhodesian Archæological Expedition (1929): Excavations in Bambata Cave and Researches on Prehistoric Sites in Southern Rhodesia." The Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland 61 (1931): 239–76, and captioned "Pl. XXXVI, Fig. 1 - River bed east of Bambata, showing Upper Alluvium (A) and Middle Alluvium (B)."
On p.241 Armstrong notes "Though the camp was situated nearly three miles from Bambata Cave and necessitated a, rough trek to and fro, through an intervening range of rocky hills and across a wide valley (Pl. XXX, Figs. 1 to 3), it proved a happy selection because the isolation of the kopje rendered it secure from troops of baboons frequenting the neighbouring ranges which, had it been closer, would probably have raided the camp in our absence and disturbed the collected specimens laid out there."
