Description
“Looking Towards Toko [Toko] (Ovalau) (from the burial ground) Nov. 1st 1877 (my last walk)” [von Hugel’s caption].
Pen and ink drawing of F.H. Dufty's photograph looking southwards down the coast of Ovalau from the Levuka cemetery, which is located on the hillside. The date refers to the Baron’s last sentimental walk to and from Toko, not the date of the photograph. See “The Fiji Journals of Baron Anatole von Hugel, 1875-1877” page 452 for the “last walk”.
