A woodblock of a drawing probably by probably by Arthur J.L. Gordon? based on Francis Dufty's studio portrait of an ovisa (officer) or sotia (soldier) of the Armed Native Constabulary. The back of his nead an neck is covered by a curtain of lime-bleached tobe ringlets. At his throat is a batinivuaka boar tusk pendant. He is wearing a coarse blue A.N.C. issue pullover shirt with elbow-length sleeves and a snake-buckled A.N.C. belt above his fringed white barkcloth waist sash.
