Description

A painted wooden carving of a male human figure inside a wooden building, possibly a Haus Tambaran [ancestor house], in Papua New Guinea. The figure is painted with black, white, and red facial paint and white spots on its torso. It is wearing a red tasselled apron and ankle jewellery and a head dress made of fur. Other painted carvings are hung on the wall behind the figure. [KK 13/09/2022]
