Description

A monk in the library of the monastery in San Martino delle Scale. He is holding up a large gradual ('corale'), the book of chants for the Mass, open at the music for Christmas Day, 'Puer natus est nobis' (a boy is born to us). There is a large miniature in a capital letter P on the right page. Behind the man there is a shelf with antique books, and behind the book there are more books similar in size leaning against the wall. [EB 28/09/2023]
