Bibliographical Reference: Poignant, Axel and Roslyn. 1972. Kaleku. London: Angus and Robertson, p.3. This extract comes from a children's book, written about a boy named Kaleku and his family in Gumine: "Kaleku and his sister live in a place called Gumine in the Highlands of New Guinea.
Their people are called Chimbu.
All around them are high mountains and deep river valleys. The nights and the early mornings are fresh and cool, but the days, when the sun is high, are very warm.
Kaleku likes to hunt with his bow and arrows. Sometimes Erita goes with him. They spend many happy hours together searching for small animals in the tall grasses and climbing on the mountainside." [KK 18/08/2022]
