Context: The Poignants made a series of photographs in Te Urewera which were intended for a children's book to be titled Tama's Quest and published by Angus and Robertson with the blurb "Tama, a Maori boy living in New Zealand today, makes a spiritual quest through the countryside of his ancestors." This would have been fourth in the series after Bush Walkabout (1957), Kaleku (1972), and Children of Oropiro (1976). However, it was never published.
