Description

A group of Māori men performing a dance during coronation celebrations of the Māori Queen, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu, in 1969. The men are wearing piupiu (skirts), headbands, and sashes. The men have moko (facial markings, customarily tattooed but this appears to be body paint). The lead man is wearing a kahu (cloak) and holding a pounamu patu (greenstone club). [KK 14/06/2022]
