The surge from the first wave carried them rapidly forward. Eti braced himself as the frail canoe gathered speed. A moment later it struck a jagged piece of coral rock.
'Jump!' he called to the others, as the rock cut into the hull.
'No! Hang on!' cried Timi, paddling furiously.
