This extract is from a children's book about children named Eti, Timi, and Sylviane and their life in Raiatea: "Timi seized the paddle, but it was too late. The surge from the first wave carried them rapidly forward. Eti braced himself as the frail canoe gathered speed. A moment later it struck a jagged piece of coral rock.
'Jump!' he called to the others, as the rock cut into the hull.
'No! Hang on!' cried Timi, paddling furiously.
There was no time to decide The water poured in through the hole, and the next wave turned the canoe over, throwing the children into the sea." [KK 03/01/2023]
