Sequence for making emdicine [sic. medicine] runs 27 2o [sic. to] 37 then 1 to 8. See notes for details.
30. Groupd [sic.] of women work preparing ingredients for medicine. Toimata (grandma) squeezes juice of the Mati fig onto tou leaves. Girl (fat One) strips mati figs from stems. There is a small basin of small 'weed' lants [sic. plants?] called Piri ate, Pito and Ino. Dish of small red berries of Tohe Tupou. Henriette squeezes juice of mati fig onto piece of Tou bark she has in the humete made of miro wood, as she does this it turns from milky white to red." [Poignant's manuscript]
