Documentary photograph of three bead neck ornaments from Uganda.
On the left is a necklet now in the care of MAA, reference E 1907.225, and described as "Nsiriba Ya Ndaula, charm of Ndaula. Red white and blue glass beads threaded onto a length of fibre making a double stranded necklet. In the centre is a cylindrical pendant that is also covered in beads, red and white in a zigzag pattern."
In the centre is a string of beads now in the care of the MAA, reference E 1907.230, and described as: "String of beads. String of trade beads separated by lengths of woven fibre. The beads are arranged in groups of 3, a large blue or white bead flanked by a pair of smaller white or red beads. Worn as a married woman's waist band."
On the right is a bead necklace now in the care of MAA, reference E 1907.228, and described as: "Msiriba. Necklace of a nine reed cylinders strung lengthways onto a fibre string. They are decorated with red, white and blue glass beads arranged in geometric patterns." [JD 01/07/2022]
