"16 August 1938
Sited Younghusband’s photo of Tuna, and Twister coursed hares. Left about 0800 for Dochen. Saw 1904 battlefield S. of Goru and Sanguro on hills west of spring (100,000 galls./hr?) and remains of block house on road.
Dochen some cultivation about 2 acres and lots of water from Rham Tso.
Many hares.
No grazing en route."
"17 August 1938
Alternative route via Kemi La and Trongma.
Delightful open rolling hills with poor grazing and some hardy blue daisies. Saw burrhel and 2 Kiang (red, pie-bald).
Kala Tso very dry and strip of hard salty mud on S-E side average width 1 mile and at least 5 miles long make good landing ground.
Kalashar about 700 acres under cultivation. Water 1,000,000 galls/hr in stream between dak bungalow and village.
Camping ground unlimited." [JD 26/01/2020]
