Four Ngombe women carrying loads of kwanga (cassava bread) in carriers worn on the back and held with a strap across the forehead. The woman on the right is pregnant.

P.143776.ACH2 - P.143792.ACH2 were found unaccessioned in a brown envelope, now numbered C863/, in Drawer A.30, and are probably prints collected as part of the preparation of the Haddon Mounted Collection.
MAA Exhibition: Photograph exhibited in 'Carriers of Culture' Spotlight cases, October 2016, and captioned "Four Ngombe women, including one who is clearly pregnant, carrying large loads of kwanga. A missionary station building is in the background.
