Africa, East. Didinga.
Didinga woman and crippled girl. The woman wears 2 skins as shown, one round her waist, the other slung over her shoulder. The former is more finely tanned and its edges are generally decorated with seeds or beads or shells. The unmarried girl as in the slide wears the Rikachit. She may also wear a small skin slung over her shoulder. (see next card)
but no skin round her waist. In this case the younger girl happens to be a cripple with spinal trouble and is therefore allowed to carry a stool, which is unusual for women.

A married woman wears two skins as shown, one round her waist, the other slung over her shoulder, the former worn fully tanned & its edges decorated with seeds, beads & shells. An unmarried girl wears the rikachit or apron of ostrich egg shell chipped into discs (or of other white shell) with a lower border of dark seeds. She may also wear a small skin slung over the shoulder. The younger girl happens to be a cripple with spinal troubles & is therefore permitted to carry a stool which is unusual for women."
