Description

On Catalogue Card: Uganda Borders. 55.53.
Africa, East. Didinga.
Didinga of Junior warrior status holding neck rest. The neck rest is used not only for its primary purpose but also as a stool and as a parrying guard in an emergency. He is recovering from an illness, as is indicated by the skin which is worn over his shoulder, and by the strips of skin worn below his knee and above his ankle. These were (see next slide) [card?]
provided by the goat sacrificed for his recovery, but that the illness was not very serious is clear from the fact that he did not shave off his Temedek.
