Description
"Another children's play group, boys only, playing a game like marbles, using stones. The "stakes" are groundnuts." [Fortes' annotation]
A group of boys playing a game similar to marbles in a field of high grasses. Seven boys sit in a rough circle, with piles of stones in piles. The central boy shakes his hand, probably about to toss one of the stones. Four boys stand, looking on. The boy standing on the right side has scarification on his cheek, two lines running parallel in a dipped line from the inside of his nose to his earlobe.
