On Strathern's listing: Oke, with original haus kuk (cooking house) in background.
Oke was a principal assistant of Marilyn Strathern at Kelua. He is a ‘sister’s son’ to Elti Weimb Meninga, and his elder brother Ake was already living at Kelua with the Elti when he came to work for me. Oke and Ake’s father was from a tribal group to the south (dialect area called ‘Temboka’), the Olka.
