Description

On Catalogue Card: "B.N.G. S.E.
Rossel Is. Ground-house, "Yebewede gmomo".
(original type, somewhat improved)." [manuscript in ink]

"Simplest types if houses, Rossell island, Louisiades.
The yebewede gmomo a ground with three median forked piles to support the ridge-pole and a raised platform on which the inmates shape. The difference of this type from the former seems to be due to the influence of the pile-dwelling with a turtle-back roof which occurs in other parts of the southeastern Massim area (see photograph [P.141774.CHB])."
