Description
These four wooden figures are carved by Barhis, the caste of carpenters, and are concerned with the cattle-god Bir Kuar. Bir Kuar is Hindu cattle-god who is worshipped in the form of wooden posts which are erected in open feilds to firtilize female buffalos. Bir Kuar is worshiped during times of distress and often offered goat sacrifices and clay horse figurines. [MG 15/3/2012]
