Description

F.H. Dufty studio portrait of two part Tongan looking chiefs, both wearing itaubebatinivuaka boar tusk pendants and broad white iwabale shoulder sashes and waist sashes, and both with long jungle cock tail feathers and ornamental combs in their hair. One wears a malo loincloth, girded high in the challenging malowala manner, the other, holding a wakakiakavo club, a cloth isulu skirt.
The man at right has a pattern of cicatrices on his left bicep. Note the photographer’s clamp.
