Description
F.H. Dufty studio portrait of “Ratu Marika” of Somosomo, Taveuni island, Cakaudrove, with his wife or daughter (right), and son?. Both chiefs wear iwabale shoulder sashes, Ratu Marika’s being of oily brown masikuvui, or smoked barkcloth, as is his waist sash. The son? holds a gatawaka club.Note the photographer’s clamps.
