Description

Portrait of a Fijian man wearing a dark cloth isulu skirt, and with long tobe ringlets falling from behind his head over his right shoulder to the waist. (Contrary to the note on the back of the photograph, tobe were worn by men not as “a sign of non-cohabitation with the opposite sex,” or any other sex for that matter). [Fergus Clunie, 14/7/2003]
