Description
Coloured print of the Royal Standard (left with white ground) of King Cakobau, Tui Viti, and the standard (right with blue and white ground) of the Cakobau government of 1871 - 1874, just prior to the colonisation of Fiji by Great Britain. The dove bearing the olive branch is of biblical derivation. The motto, Rerevaka na Kalou ka doka na Tui, or Fear God and honour the King was adopted by the colonial government as Fiji’s slogan on its colonial coat of arms, and is still extant today.
