Description

Studio portrait of Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, eldest son of Ratu Seru Cakobau, Vunivalu of Bau, by his principal (and ultimately Christian) wife, Yadi Samanunu (Christian name Litia).

He wears an iwabale sash of white masi round his right shoulder and upper arm, a fringed white barkcloth waist sash over a cotton isulu kilt, and is holding an iuladrisia throwing club. [JD 26/4/2012]
