Description
A smallish drua voyaging canoe on the sand-flats at Lakeba in the Lau Group. The kata or hull is at right, with the mualailai or “small prow” facing the camera. The cama or outrigger hull is to the left. Deckhouse details are masked by coconut leaf matting sunshades. An iuli or steering oar is lying across the end of the deck, with its blade resting on a vavada strut. Koli or belaying dog standing on deck over the cama.
