Description

Burton Brothers of Dunedin photograph by Alfred Burton, looking from Suvavou towards the Suva peninsula, with Fijian men, woman and a baby in the foreground. Good details of everyday Fijian dress of the time. One of the men has a gugu club over his shoulder, another is squatting with a sawn down bo'ai club. The man wearing a shirt holds a multi-pronged sasai fishing or fowling spear. 1884. [Fergus Clunie, 14/7/2003]
