Description

Documentary photograph of the Taniko border of a Maori cloak, MAA Object E 1907.597, described as: "Small cloak or shoulder mat ("aronui") made of flax. Very fine texture. The bottom edge bears a broad, decorative band in red and brown "tariko work" . The sides bear a narrow band with the same pattern. The brown dye has almost faded. The red is produced by European wool."[Description from record E 1907.597, JD 30/09/2021]
