The transcription of this album by Mark Turin and Sara Shneiderman was carried out with reference to Krystina Cech’s catalogue list alone. Alex Nadin has since revised their cataloguing by systematically matching their records to the images. Margaret Williamson’s handwritten captions for photographs have now been transcribed into the Inscription field, and Cech’s descriptions appear in the Description field. Place: Yatung, contemporary spelling of Yadong, is also Known as Dromo in Tibetan. The site for one of the three trade agencies set up the British in Tibet, the others being Gyantse and Gartok. Place: The entry previously recorded place as “India; Sikkim; Yatung” but research shows that Yatung is in the Chumbi Valley region of Tibet. The record has been amended accordingly. [JD 19/1/2007]
