Description

On Cech’s list describing prints:
“(Photos 88-102 were taken in Sa-skya)
93a. “The Tri-Rimpoche and his son and shape, 29.6.34 (Peggy) Telephoto”
The Tri Rimpoche is wearing a sa-zhwa hat. The two side parts to right and left are taken up and bound together in such a way that the left-hand part is turned to the inside and the right-hand part to the outside. The right-hand part (called ‘ear’ in Tibetan) synbolises the sacred scriptures, the left mystical practices. His son and shape are wearing the silk robes of high officials. On the table in front of the Tri Rimpoche, there are offerings of rice, water and there is a butter-lamp and tea-cup.
See ww: Sakya Tri-Rimpoche, Sakya Tri-Rimpoche’s son, Sakya shape” [printed text]

Other Information

The transcription of this album by Mark Turin and Sara Shneiderman was carried out with reference to Krystina Cech’s catalogue list alone. Alex Nadin has since revised their cataloguing by systematically matching their records to the images. Margaret Williamson’s handwritten captions for photographs have now been transcribed into the Inscription field, and Cech’s descriptions appear in the Description field. Correct entries for Place, Named Person and Other Nos. have also been entered by Alex Nadin. [Sudeshna Guha 29/10/2002]
