Publication: Published as part of composite carte d' visite board in Edwards, E., (ed.) Apring 1997. History of Photography. p34, Figure 3. with caption "F. and A. Dufty, South Sea islanders, n.d. (c.1877). Glass plate negative. Courtesy of the Fiji Museum,Suva.” [Jocelyne Dudding 22/07/03]

Photographer: This print was provisionally attributed to “?Dufty Brothers, Levuka”, but Dufty’s Levuka studio is recognisable through the brocade curtain patterned with a floral design framed by a diamond-shaped outline is also distinct to Dufty’s Levuka studio. This configuration of studio props appears to be used by Dufty between circa 1874 - 1875. The Photographer, Date, and Place fields have been amended accordingly. [JD 13/3/2012]
