Description
On Mamen's listing: Barga, N. Manchuria 1931.
Hodish on the Imen Oronchon camp.
62. Mrs Kolmito. (K. behind). 15/8
Mrs Kolmito wears silver earrings and bracelets, which probably would have been brought from Hailar. Although dressed for hunting with the belt for bullets, and Kolmito holding a rifle, the Hodish Orochen are farmers. This is evidenced by the knife worn at the centre of the waist. Komito also holds a horse whip, made from bamboo with a leather hoop at one end for holding and short leather strips at the other.
This is a summer camp as the tsum (tepee) is raised off the ground to allow a breeze to pass through. [Information by Mrs Erdenegowa, Orochen elder, Alihe, JD 2/4/2015]
