Description

On Mamen’s listing: Baying Hosho (Solon) Obo festival.
Barga, N.W. Manchuria, 1931.
43. The Amban’s winning pony. 22/6.

“At dawn more than 50 youthful jockeys had set out for the starting point, over 15 miles away. An excited crowd now greets the winning horse - although it is almost certain to be one of the Amban’s many entries. Once a humble Daur’s horse was in the lead, but the Amban bought it before the end of the race.” The horse race at Solon Obo was before the offering of the Obo and wrestling was after the offering.
