Description
On Mamen's listing for N.21313.LIN: “Baying Hosho (Solon) Obo festival.
Barga, N.W. Manchuria, 1931.
29. Solon officials waiting for the Amban and Ugurda. 21/6. [manuscript in ink]"
In the film listing for “Solon Obo Festival”, Lindgren has provided a detailed description for this scene:
“On June 21st, the day before the main event of the festival ... Solon officials stand beside their mount to greet the Ugurda, administrative head of the district, arriving from Hailar. ... The officials hasten away to a sudsidiary oboo, where they watch anxiously for the arrival of the Amban. The venerable Amban, Governor General of Barga, is a Dagur, and the Ugerda of the Solon District is his first cousin. When the car passes, the Solons bow to the Amban, whose presence at their festival is a great honour.” [U. Borjigin, 20/5/2002]
