Head and shoulders portrait of Niaqukittuq, an older Aivilingmiut woman with kakiniit (facial tattoos) annotated as being “tribal markings”. She wears European clothing and stands in front of a wooden building (possibly the Roman Catholic Mission?) at Repulse Bay. [Niaqukittuq was identified by Deborah Webster, an anthropologist, writer and curator originally from Qamani’tuaq (Baker Lake), Nunavut, JD 14/11/2024]
