“Samoa”. [von Hügel’s? annotation]

F.H. Dufty carte-de-visite studio photograph of a Samoan woman in respectable Fijian woman’s dress of the day, with two tufts of striped and frazzled pandanus leaf streamers in her hair, a tasselled neckband at her throat, a coloured off-the-shoulder and puff-sleeved vinivoa (“pinafore”) bodice trimmed with white ?lace, and an isulu wrap-around skirt.
