Description
Posed group portrait of the same little whiteman as in P.87207 and P.87208, this time being informally served a bilo or coconut shell cup full of yaqona / kava by Yadi Cakobau. The woman who has prepared the yaqona looks on with the ibo strainer in her hand. Cakaudrove barkcloth in background. The bowl is a kumete which in fact appears to be empty, so they are apparently only going through the motions for the photograph. Bau, 1895. [Fergus Clunie, 26/7/2003]
