Description
On Catalogue Card for duplicate print P.219.ACH1: “Mondellimin near the junction of the Darling and Murray Rivers.”
Four Aboriginal men with dogs hunting emu at Mondellimin, near the junction of the Darling and Murray Rivers. First the men watch the emu carefully for where it looks for water. They then enclose this spot with large strong nets to block up the favourite spots of this animal with cages. The hunters wait singly or in groups in a hideout for two or three days until the emu comes looking for water. The men then jump out with their dogs and kill the animal one way or another. A casuarina tree is in the foreground on the right. [See Blandowski 1862, fig. 51]
