Description

On Catalogue Card for duplicate print P.231.ACH1: “Woman fishing in a lagoon (on right of photo. Eucalyptus gloriosus [globulus?] - Goborreton Phragmites [Goboro Phragmatis).”

Two Aboriginal women using a round net to fish, while a second pair of women are walking through the water dragging a net between them in a nearly dried out side arm of the Murray River. On the rocks in the foreground is a curled black snake and the reeds Phragmatis vulgaris. In the background is the Eucalyptus bicolor or “Goboro-rubber tree”, white Cacatua gelerites and Eucalyptus globulus. [See Blandowski 1862, fig. 39]
