On Catalogue Card for duplicate print P.228.ACH1: “Natives making a canoe on the Murray river.”

Four Aboriginal men use long spears? to cut a large piece of bark from a ‘red rubber tree’ to make a canoe. To the left is an Aboriginal family travelling with their dogs in a bark canoe on the Murray River.
Red rubber trees (probably Eucalyptus camaldulensis? (River Red Gum?)), are to be found in dry areas along the river. In the distance and to the right, there is a tall Eucalyptus subulate (Forest Red Gum), to the left, Eucalyptus bicolor (Eucalyptus largiflorens, Black Box), which are to be found in swampy areas. [See Blandowski 1862, fig. 34]
