On Catalogue Card for duplicate print P.246.ACH1: “Different tattoo of the Australian woman. 1. Mouth of Murray river, 2. Lake Alexandrina, 3 & 4. Kow? swamp.”
Composite plate of four half-length portraits of Aboriginal women showing their differing cicatrisation and tattoo patterns on their fronts and backs that relate to their regions.
On the top row, the woman from 1. the Mouth of Murray river, and 2. the Lake Alexandrina, have the back part of the left arm decorated with fine rows of ridges.
On the bottom row, 3 & 4, the woman from Kow-Swamp has finger-long cuts in two rows that decorate her back and horizontal and vertical lines that cover her chest. [See Blandowski 1862, pl.76]
